Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are two very hot buzzwords right now, and often seem to be used interchangeably. Artificial Intelligence is the broader concept of machines being able to carry out tasks in a way that we would consider “smart”. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of a computer program or a machine to think and learn. It is also a field of study which tries to make computers "smart". As machines become increasingly capable, mental facilities once thought to require intelligence are removed from the definition.

Machine learning is a subset of AI. That is, all machine learning counts as AI, but not all AI counts as machine learning.
